Let the good cover the bad

Time has passed since our memorable comeback against Paris Saint-Germain. It’s worth looking back at it now with eyes wide open. Real Madrid won but over the course of two games, they were not the better team. However, moments of genius from particularly Courtois, Modric and Benzema helped Real Madrid make it through. Nothing else was remembered other than Los Merengues were in the next round. We are all guilty of that, and understandably so. However, that shouldn’t cover the flaws in the team.

Real Madrid lost 4-0 to Barcelona yet a lot of focus was about Real Madrid having a nine-point gap at the top of the league. In his post-match press conference, the manager reiterated the lead by saying  “We have to stay calm and keep our heads because this loss is very painful, but we have to remember that we’re nine points clear of second place”. Again, it’s understandable why the focus is there. The flaws are still there though.

Ancelotti cannot expect the public to just let things go. There are a lot of problems in the team that is directly due to his management. Whenever things go awry, the Italian automatically looks at the positives. Not the positives that came from the match but rather in general. During the same press conference, he also stated that he would have taken a nine-point lead by the end of March and being in the Champions League quarterfinals if that was offered at the beginning of the season.

Next. Real Madrid have surely lost Erling Haaland to Manchester City now. dark

So, should we forget that the team just got humiliated by their biggest rivals in the league?

This type of thinking only brings in more problems. The team already suffered due to his poor choices in management and lack of trust in many of the squad players. It will only continue to get worse while he is in charge. Real Madrid may end the season with the league title in their hands, but at what cost?
