Real Madrid Transfers: Could PSG’s dysfunction lead Achraf Hakimi to join with Kylian Mbappe?
Real Madrid need a full-back more than most of the other clubs do. According to many, Dani Carvajal’s decline should force them to sign a quality right-back at any cost. I am of that opinion as well. Dani Carvajal’s performances have hit rock bottom. He’s never been this bad, and according to some, he might even be the worst right-back to start for a top club. It’s harsh, sad, but not wrong.
Real Madrid let Achraf Hakimi go to Inter in search of minutes, it was mainly because they were happy with Carvajal and figured they’d just use the right of first refusal if the Moroccan ever switches clubs.
Well, one year later, he switched clubs, and instead of moving for him, they decided to renew Carvajal’s contract and let Hakimi go properly. Such a terrible move on so many levels, I can’t even begin to describe it to you.
But now, according to RMC Sport, Hakimi’s future at PSG could be affected by Mbappe’s departure.
PSG won’t let Hakimi go, but Real Madrid have to at least try to sign him
It’s no secret that Hakimi and Kylian Mbappe are very close. We’ve seen enough pictures on their Instagram and Twitter accounts to know this. But, according to the report, since Hakimi is very close to Mbappe, his future is undecided, as he has a very cold relationship with some other teammates, like Messi and Neymar.
All of this is not surprising at all. PSG are as dysfunctional as they have ever been, and bringing in so many superstars with such massive egos had to have an impact at some point.
But, that’s not the point I am trying to make. My point is that Real Madrid must do everything in their power to sign Hakimi. Yes, PSG could just not respond to their offer, or reject it, just like they did last summer for Mbappe. But, they have to try.
The right-back position has become one of their biggest weaknesses. If Ferran Torres – who is not even that quick – is absolutely cooking Carvajal on the right, something’s wrong. No disrespect to Ferran, he’s a great player, but as I said, he shouldn’t be able to beat Carvajal for pace that easily, you know?

Real Madrid clearly have a lot to work on next summer, and if this Clasico was any indication, they need to consider a competent right-back for the team as well.
