Real Madrid Femenino showed they are capable

I would like to applaud manager Alberto Toril and all the players who took the field on Tuesday night. They did an incredible job. To take the game to Barcelona and to maintain it for almost 50 minutes was stupendous. Toril has done the unthinkable in his short time.

Real Madrid with their 4-2-3-1 formation pressed high up the pitch. They took Barca by surprise, or rather shocked them, with their high intensity. And it just wasn’t the willingness to press. The players showed real cohesiveness and were fearless in their approach (Carlo Ancelotti could probably take notes).

To end the first half as the dominating side, having Barca under the cosh, was a commendable thing. I felt extremely proud. The team believed in itself and they could have scored more. Unfortunately, Barcelona used their experience and guile to end the match as winners.

This should set the team up to finish the season very well. Regardless of what happens in the 2nd leg, in front of 90,000 spectators at the Camp Nou, the team will be soaring high on confidence. The focus now will be to win the maximum league games and secure a Champions League spot for the next season.

Although Real Madrid Femenino lost the game, they sure did win the hearts.
