Monaco DM Aurelien Tchouameni
Kylian Mbappe has been the dream signing for over a year, and right behind him, Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland was considered the second dream target. But now, things have changed. Madridistas are seeing Manchester City’s interest and financial power. They are also uncertain of how Haaland can co-exist with Karim Benzema. There is a growing feeling that it may be better to sign Haaland in a few years, just as Real signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United and will likely sign Mbappe from PSG.
Thus, Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has become the No. 2 target behind Mbappe. Even though Real signed Eduardo Camavinga in 2020 and already have Fede Valverde (and Antonio Blanco, though his situation is cloudier), a third midfielder would be ideal. After all, Real must replace Casemiro, and something tells me they would rather do that sooner rather than later.
At the very least, Tchouameni would be an important backup No. 6. He may already be better than Casemiro, and his stock continues to rise. Tchouameni owned PSG in a recent 3-0 victory for Monaco, and he scored a last-gasp winner for France on Friday night.
Tchouameni is a special player. The 22-year-old is averaging 2.6 tackles per game and 2.6 interceptions per game in Ligue 1, as well as 1.7 fouls drawn per game and 1.2 dribbles completed per game.
I challenge you to find another midfielder who is as good as Tchouameni defensively and also as adept at carrying the ball. You just cannot do it. He is the ideal midfield signing for Real Madrid, and it is incredible to see how dominant he is in Ligue 1 as a U23 No. 6. With each passing week, Tchouameni looks like a more important midfield transfer target for Los Blancos. A trio of Fede, Camavinga, and Tchouameni could be the leading force of the new generation of great midfields in world football.
