Real Madrid assembled one of the greatest midfields of all time with very little financial investment. Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro have been three of the best players in their respective roles and won three straight Champions Leagues together, complementing their roles perfectly and helping so many players in the squad. To this day, they remain a great trio, but Madridistas know it is time to start looking to the future.

Already, Los Blancos have two of the best young midfielders in the world in Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga. And though Camavinga cost 30 million euros, he was still a bargain. Fede? Real Madrid paid just five million euros for him. What a steal, huh?

It comes as no surprise, then, that Camavinga and Fede are two of the midfielders Real have planned for the next trio to replace the vaunted ‘KCM’.

But who is the third man? Could it be the promising Antonio Blanco? He has not played a role in the squad this season under Carlo Ancelotti, but Madridistas fell in love with his class and composure at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Real Madrid want to sign Tchouameni as the third man

According to MARCA, Real Madrid are planning on adding Aurelien Tchouameni and forming a great midfield trident with Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and the Monaco man.

That makes plenty of sense. On paper, Tchouameni is the best fit to replace Casemiro as the 6, due to his defensive proficiency. He is even an upgrade on Casemiro on the ball, as he is a solid passer and a great carrier of the ball. There isn’t a better midfielder for Real Madrid to buy at the moment when you consider both his fit with the club and his future potential.

Of course, Real Madrid have been tracking Tchouameni for years, and Monaco know how good he is. He was already playing at a high level in 2020/21, and his stock seems to only increase with each passing month. Tchouameni is expected to cost at least 60 million euros, potentially more if the Ligue 1 side can get the variables they are looking for.

So unlike Camavinga and certainly unlike Fede, Real will not be getting the 22-year-old French defensive midfielder at a bargain price. However, Tchouameni could easily be worth more than 60 million euros within a few years. He is a high-priced investment but one worth making, especially if Los Merengues are sold on him as the third man to complete a world-class midfield for the next 5-10 years to come.
