Real Madrid lack options in the final third, and they lack ideas as well, as we saw from a rather fortunate 2-1 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday. Real Madrid did score two goals, but both were from penalties. There was little to no threat from non-set piece situations from Madrid, and it shows us what we need to know.

Of course, Kylian Mbappe’s almost imminent arrival should change things, but he’s not the only player this team needs in the attack. Of course, Karim Benzema has been cooking, scoring 35 goals in all competitions already, but apart from him and Vinicius Junior, there’s no one that provides this attack with a lot of firepower. Rodrygo is a hit-or-miss, Marco Asensio is, uh, usually a miss.

Obviously, Benzema won’t be around forever. It doesn’t look like Real would be able to sign Erling Haaland. So, Mbappe and Vinicius Junior would need a third man to lead the line, right? Well, I think that third man could well be Serge Gnabry. And according to reports, David Alaba feels the same way.

According to Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl of BILD, Real Madrid are interested in Serge Gnabry, and Alaba, Gnabry’s former teammate, wants to lure the German to Real Madrid.

Serge Gnabry would be the perfect signing for Real Madrid, especially considering his versatility

The report says that the two players have an excellent relationship, and Alaba is currently campaigning for Gnabry to join Real. There is also loose contact between the player’s agents and the club.

It has been reported that although Gnabry’s priority is to extend his contract with Bayern Munich, he is still upset by the role he is currently getting under Julian Nagelsmann. Bayern have a lot of options in the attack, and someone will have to sacrifice and sit on the bench, and right now, it is Gnabry.

At Real Madrid, I think he’d get a much bigger role, because as I said, Benzema is going to be 35 this year, and even if he plays at an unbelievable level for another season, that won’t be a problem because I don’t think Gnabry would leave Bayern until his contract expires.

The main reason why Gnabry would be great with Los Blancos is that the man is just so versatile. He can play at any position in the attack, and can also play just behind the striker, giving Real Madrid many, many options to choose from, something that has been lacking for a while now.

It says that he doesn’t want to leave this summer, which means that the only options he has are either to stay at the club for another season and then leave, or to sign a contract extension. However, it has also been said that Bayern do not want the star to leave on a free transfer. Well, you can’t really have it both ways. If playing time is important to Gnabry, I doubt he signs an extension with Bayern right now.
