Real Madrid fans are hoping for an influx of new talent in the summer 2022 transfer window after two relatively quiet windows. Kylian Mbappe would be the headliner – as a free transfer, no less – but most fans would like to see upgrades made at other positions in the squad, such as right back and defensive midfield. Aurelien Tchouameni is already standing out as an ideal target.

But if Real are to bring in all the players that fans want, they will need to make space in the squad. Some players will have to be sold, in addition to the likes of Gareth Bale and Isco who will be out of contract. Still, others could be loaned to clear space, especially since some of these players either need the experience or may only be able to be sold through a loan arrangement.

Let’s take a look at three current players who could be loaned in the summer 2022 transfer window.

LW Rodrygo Goes

If I had to guess which name came to your mind before reading this article, then I would go with versatile winger Rodrygo Goes. The young Brazilian has been effective for Real Madrid in his three seasons since joining for 45 million euros from Santos. However, if Real were to sell him this summer – as many unreliable rumors posit – they clearly would not make their return on investment. Therefore, it is just about impossible to see Rodrygo being sold, especially since the player has shown zero interest in leaving Madrid. He seems to love the club greatly.

Rodrygo has what it takes to be a future superstar, albeit on the left wing and not on the right wing. And the more he plays in his unfavored position, unable to cut inside onto his right foot when dribbling and shooting, the less likely he is to fulfill that potential. With Kylian Mbappe set to join Vinicius Jr. as two legitimate superstar options on the left wing, Rodrygo’s chances at playing there will be at a minimum.

If Real Madrid cannot bring in another right winger, then Rodrygo must stay. He is too important to the squad depth and is still an effective player in that position. But if they keep Marco Asensio, bring back Brahim Diaz, or even sign someone else like Antony or Serge Gnabry, Rodrygo could get a big-ticket loan. There is little doubt that in the right destination, Rodrygo can explode like Vini has in 2021/22.
