Real Madrid has always had a lot of options on the wings. In the 2019/20 season, they had as many as seven wingers in the squad. But the problem since Gareth Bale’s decline and Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale was that they didn’t have consistently goalscoring wingers in their team. Every winger had something or the other lacking.

That problem may be finally coming to an end, given that Kylian Mbappe might become a Real Madrid player this summer, and given Vini Jr’s complete transformation from a player who can’t finish to a player who can produce the end product consistently.

But still, there’s a need to sort out the future of a lot of wingers at Real Madrid, with a need for some players to be sold and for some players to get better opportunities.

Only time will tell what will happen, but let us try predicting what will happen in the case of each winger, starting with the left-wingers first.

LW Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid has been a complete disaster, with injuries ruining the Belgian’s life in the Spanish capital. An ankle injury came at the worst time possible, at a time when he was slowly picking up pace at Real Madrid, and surgeries only made his situation worse. He has slowed down a lot after those physical struggles, but the latest surgery to remove the metallic plates near his ankles is another bad news.

It is the best decision for both Eden Hazard and Real Madrid to break their bond. But I highly doubt if any club would be interested to take a 31-year-old attacker on high wages, whose career has been plagued with regular injuries in the last three years. I also doubt if the Belgian, who has a contract up to 2024, intends to leave Real Madrid. His brother Thorgan Hazard has conveyed that Eden wants to stay at Madrid until his contract expires, but we have got to wait and see what will happen.

At the moment, there aren’t any rumours related to Eden Hazard, and even the fans seem to have forgotten that a player with that name exists at Real Madrid. Though I hope Hazard leaves Real Madrid for his betterment, I don’t see a possible departure, and I think the club has to bear those 20 million euro wages for two more seasons.

Prediction – Hazard will continue at Real Madrid for another season

LW Vinicius Jr

Currently, he’s the star of Real Madrid and is one of the best wingers on the planet. His 17 goals and 17 assists in all competitions have multiplied his stocks by a hundred and Real Madrid see him as their most valuable asset. The complete attack has been built around the Brazilian’s pace and ball carrying skills this season, and he has been touted to be a future Ballon d’Or winner.

I can only see a contract renewal with a massive pay raise in the near future, something that has been pretty much inevitable all this time. I can also see him having a long career at Real Madrid, filled with goals and trophies.

But there’s only one concern I have regarding his future. Kylian Mbappe is arriving this summer, and he is someone who loves to play from the left. And of course, it makes complete sense to use the best players in their most comfortable positions. But it will be interesting to see how well Vini Jr can adapt to life alongside another star, who’s also on his way to becoming the best player in the world, and how well he can adjust if there’s a change in his position.

I had once written about how both of them can fit together, but things on the field will be different from things on paper, and we have to wait and watch how they’ll play together.

Vinicius Jr – Vinicius is here to stay for a long time, and he will soon sign a contract extension
