1. Karim Benzema

“A lion among men” would be the most appropriate phrase to describe Karim Benzema’s presence at Real Madrid over the past several seasons. The French striker has truly been the heart and soul of Los Blancos this season, and I can’t imagine where the club would be if it hadn’t been for his brilliance on a constant basis.

It is nothing short of gratifying to watch a player who has long been seen as underappreciated now becoming the subject of huge debates in the world of football. He is virtually everywhere, which makes him the most serious contender for the Ballon d’Or this season.

The 34-year-old has put up stats that few other players can match. In 48 outings in the white shirt, he has scored a remarkable 46 goals, and if that isn’t enough, he has also assisted his teammates 13 times, and the season isn’t even done. It’s unfathomable that a player of that age is producing on such a massive scale.

There was just no stopping Benzema; just ask PSG and Chelsea, who were both victims of his wrath. Despite his figures, which may give the appearance that he is a selfish player, the striker is the most giving player on the team. Throughout the season, he has pulled everyone with him and is also the one who brings the best out of his companion Vini Jr.

Benzema has undoubtedly been the team’s sole carrier, and with everything pointing to him winning the Pichichi and, most likely, the Ballon d’Or, his position as the finest Los Blancos player is too apparent and insignificant in comparison to what is to come for the living legend.
