Real Madrid have three players racing against time to be fit for the big game against Manchester City on Tuesday. Ferland Mendy, David Alaba and Casemiro, as you all may know, all picked up injuries in the last two weeks, and so far, have become serious doubts for the big Champions League game.

However, it is safe to say that at least one of them should be there, per report.

Ferland Mendy trained well with the team, and will play against Manchester City

According to MARCA, Ferland Mendy completed a full training session with the rest of the team, and wouldn’t have any problems in returning to the starting line-up for the first leg of the semi-final.

We have to remember that even though he has only completed one full session so far, it is still very good because there is a couple of days before the team plays at the Etihad Stadium, so Mendy should have more than enough time to prepare for the tie.

Real Madrid need as many fit players as they can get, and Mendy is one of their most important players because of what he provides defensively. With Alaba and Casemiro still doubtful about the clash, his presence there would be very important, and thankfully, Carlo Ancelotti won’t have to field both Vazquez and Carvajal as the team’s starting full-backs.

As for the other two, it’s still very much up in the air. Nothing has been confirmed so far, and it’s unlikely that these two players actually feature in the game. But it remains to be seen what happens on Monday, which is when we actually should get to know more about them.

Something’s better than nothing, though. Mendy would be crucial in locking down the left side, and since it’s going to be either Mahrez or Gabriel Jesus starting in front of him, it’s assuring to think it’s not going to be someone out of position defending them.
