As much as this season has been engulfed in epic comebacks with Real Madrid exceeding expectations, it has also been filled with criticism of Carlo Ancelotti. His lack of rotation and apparent inability to deal with certain tactics while barely changing his own ideas have led to many questioning how long he will be at the club for.

Well, there is reason to believe that he will be calling Madrid home for at least another season.

With the season nearing its end, the club is now stepping up efforts for the upcoming summer transfer window. To do that correctly, Florentino Perez rightfully wanted to seek advice from the manager on what he thinks is required next season.

The manager responded by requesting another centre-back and the specific player is Antonio Rudiger.

Antonio Rudiger would be Carlo Ancelotti’s signing, after all

The German defender has been on Real Madrid’s radar for quite some time this season. With his contract ending at Chelsea, having a closer look at him was a no-brainer. However, his high demands have put the club off initially before a verbal agreement was reached.

The fact that Perez went all-out and did his best to finalize the signing as soon as possible is proof that Ancelotti will be staying. Not only did the president listen to his request, but he trusted him and agreed to grant him his wishes. However, with this trust comes extra responsibility.

Ancelotti knows that what was asked of him at the beginning of this season would be less than his targets for the upcoming season. He would have gotten a defensive player that he specifically asked for while Real Madrid continue to build for the future.

With names such as Kylian Mbappe and Aurélien Tchouaméni on the radar, the club will be expecting Ancelotti to exceed what he has done this year. It’s a big ask but it comes from a big club. This probably won’t phase Ancelotti as he fully understands the demands of the club and will do everything he can to deliver.

Antonio Rudiger arrives at the club and brings with him experience in Europe. He has seen it all during his time at Chelsea and has flourished under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel. Rudiger has definitely made a name for himself in Europe and strengthened his profile earlier this month when Real Madrid took on Chelsea in the Champions League.

At 29 years of age, he has decided to find a new club amidst the issues at Chelsea and reports have suggested that Real Madrid is the club he has chosen. It will be interesting to see how Ancelotti uses him in the upcoming season but there is no denying that his addition strengthens the club.

With all the criticism that surrounds the Italian manager, there is no denying that he has gone above and beyond with his team this season. They are currently just one point away from clinching the league title and they find themselves in the UEFA Champions League semifinals against Manchester City. Ancelotti has more than earned the right to at least stay until the end of his two-year contract.
