Real Madrid were without their defensive midfielder Casemiro in a really tough and just as entertaining game which resulted in a 4-3 win for the team’s opponents, Manchester City. The scoreline could’ve been worse, but Real Madrid would take this lead back home and will try their best to reverse the deficit in front of their fans.
I think one of the biggest reasons why Real Madrid struggled off the ball so much is because they didn’t really have their defensive midfielder. Well, they didn’t have any defensive midfielder, which is why they need to sign Tchouameni.
However, Carlo Ancelotti did say in the pre-game press conference that Casemiro should feature against City in the second leg, although you never know with stuff like this.
Casemiro will be available to play vs Manchester City in the second leg, per report
Well, this is some good news.
According to journalist Sergio Quirante, Real Madrid will have Casemiro fully fit for the second leg as he spent four hours at the Valdebebas working and recovering from the injury, along with the physios.
The first leg was a game that showed us just how important the Brazilian is, but it also showed how important it is for David Alaba, or any player, to be at peak fitness for the game. Alaba was a step slower in every single sequence and was at fault for the second goal, before being subbed at halftime.
Back to Casemiro, though, you could argue that he has his flaws. His lack of press resistance would be on full display in the second leg, but you’ll also realise how important he is defensively, considering the first two goals, well, at the very least, the second one, would’ve probably been avoided if Casemiro was there.
