Real Madrid are champions of Spain for a record 35th time!

With four matches still to play, Los Blancos were able to hoist the league trophy in front of a rowdy crowd at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu after a 4-0 win over Espanyol on Matchday 34 of LaLiga.

One of the most consistent contributors during this campaign has been goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Courtois has played in all 34 LaLiga matches and every single Champions League match to date.

However, the Belgian international was undone by a highly-motivated FC Barcelona in El Clasico at the end of March. The Catalans ended an eight-game skid against Real Madrid with the emphatic league win, and Courtois figured this afternoon after lifting the league trophy for the third time in his career that he would take a dig at Barca.

Real Madrid was undoubtedly the best team in LaLiga this season

The Clasico loss was Real Madrid’s largest margin of victory in any competition this season and Courtois’ third loss to Barca since he joined the club in 2018.

It was a result that many expected would motivate Barca to get back into the title race, however, Xavi’s side lost at home in the Europa League to Eintracht Frankfurt and have lost their last two at home in LaLiga to Rayo Vallecano and Cadiz without managing to score.

I love this banter from Courtois! What can the Barca fans or players say now?

Real Madrid was far and away the best and most consistent team in the league and managed to earn points when all looked lost. Think back to Sevilla a few weeks ago or one of the many gutsy one-goal wins.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti became the first boss to win the top five leagues and Real Madrid players are trolling Barcelona for celebrating a meaningless result. Inject it into my veins!
