Real Madrid: The two things that would make Kylian Mbappe stay at PSG simply won’t happen

Real Madrid are very close to signing Kylian Mbappe, per multiple reports in the past. Some say the contract has already been signed, others say Kylian is still deciding and will make his decision soon, and some others say that there are still a couple of things left to agree upon between the two clubs.

But, some reporters are also talking about the possibility of him staying at PSG for a short term contract. According to Santi Aouna of Footmercato, there are only two things that would make Kylian Mbappe stay at PSG, a great sporting project worthy of a top club and some ‘changes’.

PSG simply cannot offer Mbappe a better sporting project than Real Madrid

Let’s look at this one at a time. The first is the sporting project. PSG spent millions and millions of euros trying to build a super-team consisting of so many individual talents and superstars, just so that they win the Champions League. That very approach is wrong on so many levels, and it just proves that PSG are not capable of making a proper sporting project.

Real Madrid’s squad consists of superstars, great squad players and a mixture of both, but at the end of the day, there is a mentality that is instilled in every player that joins, there’s a proper vision of the club. Even if PSG start buying the right players, they won’t get close to their goal, or at least, closer than Real Madrid are. You can’t buy mentality, you can’t buy vision. You can’t buy the intangibles that make Real Madrid what they are. Mbappe dreams of Real Madrid, and PSG know they can’t buy that either.

Plus, I don’t know what changes are being talked about, but I know these are not just personnel changes. There are changes at every level. From the ownership to the players, every single thing, and it simply cannot happen in one summer, and I doubt that Mbappe would want to wait for another few years so that PSG start making some competent decisions and moving in the right direction. Yes, he loves the city, but I doubt he loves the club that much.

Also, think about this, whatever PSG can offer Mbappe in terms of changes and sporting projects, Real Madrid simply do much better than that anyway. The only thing PSG can offer that Real Madrid can’t is unlimited amounts of money. That’s really it, and we know Mbappe’s decision goes much, much beyond that.
