Real Madrid put on a show this Thursday night at the Santiago Bernabeu, defeating Levante 6-0 behind a hat-trick of goals from Vinicius Jr. and a hat-trick of assists from Luka Modric. It was Real’s most dominant performance of the season to date, as it was a combination of Carlo Ball and Champagne Ball.

This Sunday, Real Madrid will face Cadiz on the road in LaLiga in the second-to-last match of the league competition the Merengues have already won. After most of the key starters played against Levante, we can expect a resumption of rotations this weekend.

Speaking at the post-game press conference after beating the Frogs 6-0, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti already revealed one of those rotational decisions at Cadiz.

Andriy Lunin will start for Real Madrid vs. Cadiz

Young backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin will get the start against the Yellow Submarine on Sunday afternoon, while Thibaut Courtois will start the final match of the season against Real Betis as his tune-up for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Lunin got his first LaLiga opportunity this past weekend against Atletico Madrid, and he impressed despite the loss. The keeper’s distribution against Atleti’s press was excellent, and he did not put a foot wrong in goal, making a couple of saves.

Because Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world, Lunin does not get many opportunities. This season, the Ukrainian has made the most of those chances, whether in the Copa del Rey or, recently, in LaLiga. So Madridistas are expecting another strong performance from Lunin against a Cadiz side Real drew with 0-0 in their earlier meeting this season.

Real Madrid fans have been rooting hard for Lunin. They know he can be a top-class goalkeeper in world football, whether at Madrid or elsewhere. And they will enjoy his start against Cadiz, as he has worked hard to get his chances and has never complained about waiting his turn.
