Real Madrid will travel to the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla on Sunday afternoon for their second-to-last fixture of the 2021/22 LaLiga season. Los Blancos will face a team that held them to a 0-0 draw earlier this season, as Cadiz have proven to be a thorn in Real’s side with their low block ever since their promotion to LaLiga. They even beat them once last season!

But the last time the Merengues faced Cadiz on the road, they dominated them. So this match could be another big opportunity for backup players to shine, as heavy rotations are expected. Carlo Ancelotti will treat the final matchday of the LaLiga season against Real Betis as the real tune-up before Liverpool in the Champions League Final.

At the press conference before Sunday’s match, Ancelotti told reporters that three notable players will make their returns against Cadiz.

Eden Hazard, Dani Ceballos, and Dani Carvajal will return vs. Cadiz

Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard will make his highly-anticipated return from ankle surgery against Cadiz. Dani Ceballos will also be able to return to the midfield sooner than expected, as he was initially set to return against his former club Real Betis next Sunday.

And finally, Dani Carvajal will be back after missing the last two matches against Atletico Madrid and Levante. Though because he is a key starter, Carlo could choose to just give him a few minutes – or even none at all – at Cadiz.

Ceballos has a shot at starting and so does Hazard. Since they are returning from injuries, a full start may not be likely, especially not for Hazard. He rarely plays the full 90 as-is.

But these are still exciting returns, particularly Hazard’s. Madridistas don’t know what the future holds for the No. 7, but they are rooting for him. If he can look more confident and pain-free after the ankle surgery, that could be huge for Hazard going forward, whether he plays for Real Madrid or another club in 2022/23.

Ceballos was class in wins over Osasuna, Espanyol, and Manchester City, so another positive appearance from him would help seal his potential spot in the Madrid squad next season.
