Real Madrid face Liverpool in the biggest club game on the planet this Saturday. Real don’t really have any injury issues. David Alaba had an injury until last week and he has fully recovered, and Ancelotti said that Gareth Bale should be available for the game vs Liverpool as well. Whether he actually gets minutes or not is a different issue, but he should be there.

Liverpool have it different, and perhaps, a bit more difficult. Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk started on the bench so they’ll most likely make the starting XI for the Champions League final. But, they did lose Joe Gomez to an injury a week ago. Now, they have lost another key player in Thiago Alcantara, who is now a major doubt for the final.

Thiago Alcantara has a hamstring injury, and is a major doubt for the game vs Real Madrid

In the final game of their Premier League season against Wolves, Thiago Alcantara, just before half-time, suffered an injury and went straight to the locker room.  It’s said to be a hamstring issue and that he’d be a major doubt for the game vs Real.

I think Thiago is Liverpool’s best midfielder. The way he operates is beautiful to watch and he’s just too good to not have in the lineup for the biggest game of the season. But, such might be the case for Liverpool, who would look for other options.

Their preferred midfield is a trident of Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. Right now, Fabinho is not fully fit although he should be when the time comes. If Thiago is out, they’d probably have to play Naby Keita or James Milner, none of whom are bad players but they are inferior to Thiago.

So yeah, it’s unfortunate for Liverpool for sure. Real would take this advantage but they’d have to prepare well for the game regardless. Liverpool are scary as hell, with or without Thiago.
