In a time span of three days, Real Madrid went from being super confident about signing Kylian Mbappe to being absolutely disgruntled since the player decided to go back on his word to Madrid and sign an extension with PSG, forcing Real to look elsewhere for options.

In a contract that doesn’t have a comparison, it gives Kylian Mbappe more power than any player could have at a top club. He will get a say in who joins as sporting director, manager, and even transfers of players. All this is a desperate attempt of the highest degree by PSG to make Mbappe stay at the club, and it does not seem like it would end well.

Now, according to reports, PSG have already tried to make some changes. Leonardo would be leaving the club, and Luis Campos might join. And, according to Julien Maynard, one of the first people that said Mbappe would be renewing his contract, Zidane would not join PSG.

Zinedine Zidane’s loyalty to Real Madrid and Marseille is something that cannot be bought

I know it’s too early to say anything, especially after what happened last week with Mbappe, but we’ve known Zidane for a long time now. It’s really tough to see him accept the coaching job at a club like PSG, where the players are not respected, the staff is not respected, where there is no culture, no chemistry, a lot of politics, and a player having more control than other players and even managers.

There’s a lot of money involved, obviously, and PSG would’ve paid Zidane a handsome amount, but Zidane is loyal to Real Madrid and his hometown. He knows how to say no to clubs if it doesn’t sit right with his principles. He’s always portrayed his loyalty to Marseille and to Real, and it’s fair to say that I just do not see him joining PSG, especially after the way things have gone with Real and Mbappe.

Marseille are PSG’s arch-rivals. Zidane never played for Marseille – it’s one of his few regrets as a player – but he was from the city, and he loves it, so I highly doubt he would disrespect his own ethics and loyalty for a bag of money.

If I am talking as a fan, it would absolutely crush me if Zidane does join PSG. But I have stated many times before, I just don’t see that happening.
