Real Madrid Transfers: Two midfielders Carlo Ancelotti rates highly
Real Madrid will be buyers in this year’s transfer window after making more sales than purchases in the last two summer windows. They took this strategy to try to save up for Kylian Mbappe, but now that Real neither owe him a signing bonus nor PSG a transfer fee, they have quite a significant transfer budget to spend.
Los Blancos can spend that money on a forward who can help compete with the current players, and they can also sign a top midfielder with that money.
Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of Fabian Ruiz and Aurelien Tchouameni
According to Fabrizio Romano, via MadridXtra on Twitter, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti “appreciates” two midfielders, in particular, Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni and Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz.
We have seen these two players linked to the Merengues for literal years. The Ruiz rumors began in like 2019, as the former Real Betis star was starting to gain momentum at Napoli. But he has truly broken out as a Madrid-level player in 2021/22, nearly elevating the Azzurri to the Scudetto – though, once again, the fan-favorite club could not put together a full season.
Tchouameni is the preferred target, of course. He has reportedly chosen Real Madrid over Liverpool, which comes as no surprise. There was a lot of smoke linking Tchouameni to the LaLiga champions, and things only cooled when Real were worried about affording Mbappe’s 100 million euro signing bonus and an 80 million euro transfer fee to Monaco for the midfielder.
Now that Real Madrid can afford Tchouameni without any issues, Liverpool took a backseat to the Merengues in the transfer battle again.

Ruiz isn’t coming with Tchouameni seemingly on his way, but both players were worthy targets for Real Madrid. It’s great to hear that Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of Tchouameni, too. Not only does it confirm that Carletto has good taste in quality footballers, but it is also an indication that he will give him a fair shake to get minutes over Casemiro. Sure, he trusts Casemiro, but if Tchouameni ends up being a better option in matches, Ancelotti may not be afraid to use him.
