Real Madrid Femenino have already begun preparations to strengthen the squad for the 2022-23 season, with several high-profile names linked with a move to Las Blancas. One such player has already announced her next decision.

Manchester City Women’s attacking midfielder Caroline Weir, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid Femenino in the Primera Iberdrola, has officially announced her departure from the FA WSL outfit on Twitter.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who joined Manchester City in 2018, made 114 appearances for the Cityzens, winning the FA Women’s League Cup and Women’s FA Cup twice each. Her contract expires in the summer.

Caroline Weir is almost confirmed to join Real Madrid next season

Although the Scottish player hasn’t announced which club will she be playing for next season, it is almost confirmed that the attacking midfielder is going to play for Las Blancas in the 2022-23 season.

The midfielder is one of the best players in Europe in her position, with her ability to thread a visionary pass, score long-range piledrivers, and effortlessly figure her way out of a press her most standout traits.

Caroline Weir will definitely be a wonderful addition to the club as Alberto Toril’s side lack a goalscoring-midfielder. She scored 38 goals for Manchester City, with an average of a goal every three games. The fact that she received two nominations for the FIFA Puskas Award proves her ability to score magical goals.

It will be interesting to see how she fits into Toril’s plans. Real Madrid Femenino do not have a dynamic, offensive-minded midfielder in their ranks. Even someone as technically gifted as Maite Oroz hasn’t had the biggest offensive impacts during her two seasons at the club as she gets deployed a bit deeper.

Weir’s connection with forwards like Esther González and Nahikari García is an intriguing prospect. She has a great understanding of where the forwards are, racking up a lot of assists in the process.

Let’s hope Real Madrid can announce closing the deal with the player soon.
