Liverpool star already trying to make excuses before facing Real Madrid
Football fans around the world are thrilled for Saturday night’s Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Liverpool. They will get to watch two of the best and most exciting teams clash in a rematch of both last season’s quarterfinal and the 2018 final.
There is no doubt that these are two elite clubs with great histories, and they are both deserving of being in the final. Liverpool and Real Madrid have gotten markedly stronger compared to last year, and you can also say that the Reds are a much better side than the one Los Blancos defeated 3-1 in the 2018 Champions League Final.
What we don’t need, though, are excuses, complaining, or anything of that nature before this game. Unfortunately, Jurgen Klopp needs to go with an “underdog” narrative at press conferences so he can deal with the pressure of these kinds of games. We saw that last year when he talked about the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano, and he is doing it again this year by bringing up the schedule, Lorus Karius, and God knows what else.
His star left back, Andrew Robertson, decided to take a page out of his book, too:
"“Real Madrid have had a more relaxed preparation, they have been able to play fewer games. We’ve had injuries, problems….but we’re all very confident.”"
Liverpool are too good to complain like this before a Champions League Final
I hate this. And I especially hate it because Liverpool do not need to do this stuff anymore. They are a different club from the one that signed Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini. The Reds are among the elite. They sit at the table of the best again, and they don’t need their best players doing this. Robertson is one of the finest left backs on the planet. He doesn’t need to try to bring in excuses or imply the other team has had it easy.
Nobody has had an easy road to get here. And quite frankly, both Real Madrid and Liverpool are about as healthy as you could expect any team to be in the Champions League Final. Unlike last season when both teams faced each other in the competition amidst a myriad of injuries, neither team has an excuse.

May be the best team win. That is all any of us as fans want to say and want to see. The Champions League Final is about the best team winning, not about BS excuses. And I better not see any Madridista coming up with their own either, because there is a reason why you never see a player or manager of Real Madrid doing this before a big game.
