Real Madrid have done it again, the Champions League trophy travels to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for the 14th time. Along with the trophy, there travels a colossal sum of prize money to the city of Madrid that the club won throughout its Champions League 2021/22 campaign.

According to AS, Real Madrid will get a hefty sum of more than 100 million euros. This amount is calculated by adding a variety of factor coefficients, round participation bonuses, and promotion bonuses, all of which are detailed below:

The first source of reward comes from UEFA’s historical ranking coefficient, which netted Real a total of 36.4 million euros; 15.64 million euros were collected from participation in the tournament’s group stage; apart from participation, the 5 group stage wins garnered an additional 15.07 million euros; 9.6 million euros from the round of 16 qualification; 10.6 million euros from quarter-finals qualification; 12.5 million euros from semi-finals qualification; and 15.5 million euros from finals qualification; This equates to 119.81 million euros in total.

But, if you believe this sum is already enormous, hold on…

To this figure of 119.81 million euros is to be added the market pool distribution amount that is given out by UEFA, which varies according to the weight of the television and viewership market in each country.

According to AS’s estimations, the market pool figure credited to Real Madrid will be no less than 16.84 million euros, bringing the total sum to 136.65 million euros, which will be further lowered to 132.48 net by UEFA to account for the organization’s losses during the pandemic. This discount for losses will be reduced from clubs’ earnings till the end of the 2023-24 season.

Winning the Champions League final against Liverpool also means that Real Madrid will face Eintracht Frankfurt, the Europa League champions this season, in the Super Cup, which promises an additional 3.5 million euros for participation. If Los Blancos win the match, an extra 1 million euros will be added to the total.
