Real Madrid will need a winger this summer, as Gareth Bale is leaving the club after nine years and Marco Asensio’s future remains unclear at the moment. None of the loanees has performed at the level required to make it into the Real Madrid first-team, and the failure of mission Mbappe means that the club needs to dive into the transfer market for a winger.

The club has been linked to names like Serge Gnabry and Rafael Leao in recent days, and now we have another winger from Manchester City being linked to the club.

According to a report from Paul Hirst of The Times, Real Madrid is interested in Raheem Sterling, whose contract expires next summer and is yet to sign an extension with the Premier League club.

Sterling is someone who has been linked to Real Madrid in the past, and now his situation is being monitored by other clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona.

Raheem Sterling isn’t the kind of player Real Madrid need at the moment

Real Madrid needs a winger who’s a specialist from the right-wing and has the ability to score a lot from that flank. Sterling has the ability to play well from the right, but his best is visible from the left, being a right-footed player who prefers to cut inside from the wing.

He has 17 goals and 9 assists this season, but he isn’t someone who can be considered a clinical finisher. His playing style is very similar to Vinicius Jr, with the Brazilian comparing himself to the Englishman in the past. Why would Real Madrid need another great left winger, when they already have one?

This is the reason why I don’t think Real Madrid needs Sterling at the moment. In fact, two players who fit their requirements well from Manchester City are Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva, with the former looking like an almost perfect fit. But it is to be seen if Real enters the race for any of them.
