Real Madrid have a busy summer transfer window ahead of them, but one of their biggest priorities goes beyond who they are bringing in. For years, there is a group of players they have been trying to sell, but they have been unable to find suitors for them due to economic conditions and/or poor form.

Marco Asensio is one player Real could very well sell this summer, but he may be attractive to clubs due to his name recognition and the fact that he scored 10 goals this past season. Though he is a limited player who does not defend or dribble past defenders, he is a decent enough playmaker and a wonderful shooter from distance. In the right situation, he could be an effective player; he is just not for Real Madrid.

With one year left on his contract and seemingly uninterested in staying at a backup-level price, which is what Real are wisely offering, Asensio hired Jorge Mendes as his new agent with a transfer in mind.

Could Marco Asensio reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane?

According to Marcos Benito on El Chiringuito, Jorge Mendes has a big move for Marco Asensio in mind. He wants to take the Andalusian attacker to Manchester United where he could be with his former Madridista teammate and fellow Mendes client Cristiano Ronaldo…assuming Ronaldo hangs around at a club close to his heart instead of bolting from the *gulp* Europa League.

Erik ten Hag will be Manchester United’s new manager, and he would probably prefer the younger, more dynamic, and better left-footed Antony for the right wing position after working with him at Ajax. But United don’t always listen to their managers and do go for the big names, such as Asensio. There could be a possibility Mendes gets something like this done.

Real Madrid would want to sell Asensio for as much as possible. 30 million euros would be ideal, and United have money, of course. Last summer, Real sold them Raphael Varane for 50 million euros.

Is Asensio to United likely? I don’t think so, because I think United will aim higher. Is it possible? Yes, because Asensio has some traits United may like, and he is someone recognizable whom the club may feel can bring them goals. They may even think he can give them more than he was able to give Real Madrid.
