Real Madrid, after bidding farewell to the legendary Marcelo, have now welcomed fresh, young blood the very next day, with the official presentation of Aurelien Tchouameni, who signed for the club for a whopping 80 million euros from Monaco on a six-year deal.

His presentation was on Tuesday, and the club revealed what number he will wear for Los Blancos next season.

The options that are currently available were 12, 18 and 22.

Tchouameni will wear the number 18 for Real Madrid next season

Tchouameni, as revealed by the club, will wear the number 18, as the number is now vacant following the departure of Gareth Bale. I won’t lie, I am very excited to watch him play. The number 18 doesn’t really add any extra pressure because the last two occupiers of the number have been Gareth Bale and Luka Jovic, neither of whom were able to do a whole lot in that jersey.

Tchouameni did reveal his reason for choosing the number 18 in the press conference after his presentation.

The Frenchman said that he likes the number eight a lot, but since Kroos occupies it currently, he chose the one that is the most similar to it.

It was also revealed that Eduardo Camavinga was in constant touch with Tchouameni when the rumors started coming out, and he told the new signing that he “has to join Real Madrid”. I love this guy:

Tchouameni sounds like he is becoming a fan favourite already, without even playing his first minutes, or even training with the team. He’s simply saying what the fans want him to say, and that’s what makes this signing so special. The guy’s going to be an incredible player, and I can’t wait to see him play for the club when the season starts.

The future’s looking pretty good for Real Madrid, isn’t it? I think it is.
