RW Rodrygo Goes

We have to call Rodrygo Goes the prime breakout candidate for the 2022/23 season. Despite scoring just four goals with four assists in LaLiga last season, all the ingredients are there for the Brazilian winger to have a statement-making season in the Royal White kit.

Though Real Madrid are being linked to wingers like Serge Gnabry which would complicate the ex-Santos man’s situation, there is a real chance Real end up signing no forwards. If that ends up being the case, the runway is clear for Rodrygo to step up.

A left winger by trade, Rodrygo showed marked improvement on the right wing by the end of the 2021/22 season, both as a starter and, especially, as a super-sub. His impact against Chelsea and Manchester City as a goal-scorer will forever live in the Real Madrid history books.

Rodrygo will not be content with that, though. He knows his potential – and so do Madrid. Like with Vinicius Jr., Florentino Perez has rejected any and all transfer offers for the latest Mr. Champions League in Madrid, knowing the player’s potential.

If Rodrygo can add more scoring prowess and consistently make an imprint on the game one-on-one with the ball at his feet from the right wing, then he will go a long way toward becoming the superstar he was meant to be at Real Madrid. You can tell how committed he is to this club.
