Real Madrid Transfers: 3 teams that could return Marco Asensio to stardom
Manchester United
I know this is an outside shout but this is the team where I ‘want’ Asensio to land, it won’t probably happen (you never know!) but United surely makes the last (but not the least) option in my list.
Going to United at this stage of someone’s career while the club having a grim time is indeed a decision a player about to enter his prime will not make if he is in his right mind. I would always want Asensio to achieve success with AC Milan or wherever he goes where he would find his position perfectly and produce consistent performances. But his dream of becoming a ‘messiah’ or a ‘superstar’ of a team can be achieved swiftly if he joins the ranks of the Red Devils – at a time when they are literally inviting someone to be their avenger.
United will go through a massive squad overhaul this summer which was confirmed by new manager Erik Ten Hag under whom United fans have been given a ray of hope for next season. United’s midfield and right-wing were the two positions because of which the Reds suffered decently last season following the arrest of Mason Greenwood who was scheduled to be a regular presence in the right-wing, Jadon Sancho finding it hard to adapt to the playing style although impressing in the left flank, and the dilapidated condition of the midfield where the likes of Fred, McTominay, and Pogba couldn’t perform as expected.
Asensio should find no problem in becoming a starter for the side which is expected to recover under the guidance of former Ajax manager, Erik Ten Hag. However, the imminent introduction of Frenkie De Jong poses a threat to Asensio at United but they play two different positions while the right-wing still remains open for the Spaniard. He would have to stir up his chemistry with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in finding him in lethal positions while Ten Hag could make good use of his outstanding link-up game and the ability to create space in attack.
Marco Asensio can eventually change the game for United and with his attacking instinct, he could bring back the Reds playing the ‘United’ way – an option that the Dutch manager will look at as we near Asensio’s decision on his future.

So here concludes my picks where Marco Asensio could return to the player we bought him back in 2014. It will be a hard sight for me and certainly for some Madridistas to see him leave the club after having a good career with Los Blancos, but the injury changed everything. This might be the time we wish the ‘Prince of Madrid’ a goodbye, let’s hope wherever he goes, he establishes himself as a star.
