Matchday 20 at Mallorca, Feb. 5

What? Mallorca is one of the tough teams? Didn’t Real Madrid beat them 6-0 in the 2021/22 season?

Yes, that is the case. But they also struggled for a half against them the second time, which was on the road. The island side usually flounders against Real Madrid in the Spanish capital, but they become a different team when on their own home turf. And by the team Los Merengues face Mallorca in February, they will be coming off consecutive matches against Villarreal on the road, Valencia in the Supercup (and perhaps the final), Valencia, Athletic Bilbao at San Mames, and another tough bask side in Real Sociedad.

So facing Mallorca on the road – a team that beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the 2019/20 season, two home meetings ago- is a classic “trap” game for Los Blancos.

Matchday 23 vs. Atletico Madrid, Feb. 26

Now back to Atleti. The second meeting against Los Rojiblancos will take place during the time when the Champions League Round of 16 is going on, adding more stress in the schedule to this encounter. Though Real have a good record against Atleti, again, there is no such thing as an easy El Derbi, save for perhaps the fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2021/22.

Real Madrid will like their chances of getting the full three points at the Bernabeu again in 2022/23, but this is always a fixture for Madridistas to circle on their calendar.
