4. 2011/2012: Title Decider at the Camp Nou

With only a couple of games remaining, Real Madrid went to the Camp Nou with a 4-point lead needing a victory or tie to virtually seal the league title. To give more clarity, Real Madrid were taking on a Barcelona side managed by Pep Guardiola, a legendary side that had won 2 Champions League titles and 3 consecutive leagues since 2009. Real Madrid, who were managed by José Mourinho, had not beaten Barcelona in a league game since 2008 and had not won in the Camp Nou since 2007.

Despite this, Real Madrid initiated the scoring with the goal coming from Sami Khedira before Barcelona equalized in the second half. Then when Barcelona looked like they were gaining momentum, a wonderful through ball by Mesut Ozil found Cristiano Ronaldo who rounded the keeper and scored to give the ‘Merengues’ the lead and eventually the victory. Real Madrid would later claim the league title and conclude the season with 100 points and 121 goals scored.

3. 2013/2014 Copa del Rey final

In the 2013/2014 Copa del Rey final, a Ronaldo-less Real Madrid took on Barcelona and entered the game as favorites. They make their presence known early on as Di Maria would give them the lead after a brilliant count-attack.

Real Madrid dominated the game and created several opportunities to finish them off. However, they did not take their chances and allowed Barcelona back into the game when Bartra equalized.

That is when Gareth Bale would step up and take the initiative. He attempted to round Bartra who push him off and seemed to disrupt the play. However, Bale did not allow that to put him off and went around Bartra to find himself alone in front of the keeper; brilliantly putting the ball past Pinto to give Real Madrid the lead. Los Blancos would thus come out victorious as they defeated their arch-rivals in another amazing Copa del Rey final.
