To be very honest, it doesn’t seem like Real Madrid are interested in making signings this season. We’ve seen two players join the club, Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni, but after the signings were complete, we kept on waiting for Real Madrid to do something else, but until now, all they’ve focused on are sales.

They’re still doing the same, but the players they want to see leaving, are not really in any mood or hurry to leave the club, which is what makes this process difficult.

But, there are two players that for sure are not in Ancelotti’s plans anymore, and those players, according to Mario Cortegana, are Alvaro Odriozola, and Mariano Diaz.

It makes a lot of sense. I mean, the fact that Mariano is the only natural striker in the club besides Karim Benzema, and the club still doesn’t want anything to do with him, shows how bad the situation is.

Mariano simply does not help the club in any way, and it is very clear that it’ll be great for everyone in a sporting sense if Mariano leaves. The financial aspect of things is the one reason why he does not actually leave, because the money he is making right now, no one else is going to give Mariano that much.

It’s actually Real Madrid’s own fault, because, at the end of the day, they gave him that contract. They hijacked his move to Sevilla, and it just doesn’t really make sense why. Mariano was never good enough for Real Madrid, but they re-signed him anyway, for a big contract.

For Odriozola, I feel like he either had heaps of potential inside him but he never really worked on his game to reach that level, or he just had a couple of good seasons while in reality he was never that good.

I don’t know which one’s the right answer, because I remember watching Odriozola play for Sociedad. He was so good for them, and yet, things didn’t work out for him here. He’s a third choice right-back, and that too, barely, because he hasn’t gotten any minutes for the club during the pre-season. Vinicius Tobias, a prospect that is registered with Castilla, has had more minutes than Odriozola.

Next. Real Madrid: Toni Kroos just had a fantastic pre-season. dark

It’s clear that his future lies elsewhere, and I hope Real Madrid are able to find him his new home.
