Until a couple of days back, there were no rumours surrounding the Real Madrid future of Casemiro and he was almost certain to stay at Santiago Bernabeu. The Brazilian might be 30 years of age but he still is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, which he proved last season by helping Los Blancos to the UEFA Champions League title against all odds, as well as winning La Liga.

Things surrounding Casemiro seem to have shaken up over the past few days though as it looks like Manchester United now want to sign him, as it looks like their chase for Frenkie de Jong is bound to fail.

Rumours have suggested that Casemiro is giving serious thought to the potential move as it could double his salary, which means that Real Madrid have to keep their eyes on potential replacements for him, if the move does indeed happen. And it looks like they have a Brazilian international from Newcastle United in their sights.

As reported by ASBruno Guimaraes leads Real Madrid’s list of possible replacements for Casemiro.

It is not hard to understand why Casemiro might be tempted with a move to Manchester United. He is 30 years of age and it would most definitely be the last big move of his career.

On the other hand, Guimaraes would certainly be an interesting choice to replace Casemiro. The Newcastle United star is also a Brazilian international.

He shined at Lyon before moving to Newcastle United in January and after a slow start at St James’ Park, he has turned things around and is looking like arguably their best player at the moment.

It would be interesting to see though whether Newcastle United are open to the idea of letting him leave.
