On La Liga’s second day of play, Real Madrid overcame Celta Vigo away from home thanks to a fantastic team effort. The game may have been loose in various areas at some times, but overall, the white is in the lead. Los Blancos took the lead in the 14th minute thanks to an early penalty goal. Two additional goals were scored in the first half, and two more in the second, resulting in the full-time score.

As is customary at Real, the squad takes charge of the game in the second half after a routinely disappointing first half performance, and the same thing happened tonight. The first 45 minutes looked shoddy, while the second half was led by men in white.

Here are the player ratings from Real Madrid’s 4-1 win against Celta Vigo as the squad prepares for a difficult season with much optimism.

GK Thibaut Courtois

A misstep by the team’s defence resulted in the Real Madrid goalkeeper being penalized once more. Even after that, Courtois was only a hair’s breadth away from saving the penalty. In addition, players from Celta Vigo occasionally made an effort to worry him, but in vain. They simply could not pass him.

Rating: 6.5

LB Ferland Mendy

Ferland Mendy simply lacks offensive confidence. He tried to make some crosses, but his partnering up game was just too slow. His defence was decent as usual, but nothing to write home about in terms of overall performance. At most, I’d say he was OK.

Rating: 5.0

CB Eder Militao

Eder Militao continues to give Ancelotti additional grounds to dismiss him from the starting lineup in favour of Antonio Rudiger. Another inexplicable penalty giveaway that the team certainly did not deserve. He was, at most, ordinary other from it.

Rating: 4.5

CB David Alaba

David Alaba is unstoppable. Alaba is far more than your usual center-back and he consistently displays his talent, as seen by his free kick in the previous game and his fantastic assist tonight. Today’s solid defence was highly reliable when combined with savvy attacking moves. Best without a doubt.

Rating: 7.5

RB Dani Carvajal

Dani Carvajal’s performance was poor in comparison to what was anticipated of him. He gave the ball away much too frequently, forcing Valverde to cover up far more than was necessary. In the 70th minute, he was replaced.
