3 transfer moves Real Madrid still need to make this summer
1. Real Madrid need to sign a backup striker/winger
The importance of Real Madrid signing a backup striker and/or winger is self-evident at this stage, and there is scarcely any other demand the fans have made with more zeal. It is quite evident that Los Blancos’ offensive front is immobilized in the absence of Karim Benzema; we saw it in last season’s El Clasico and saw it again in preseason.
When Benzema is out, even the ever-dangerous Vinicius Jr struggles to get through the defence and make an impression. Real Madrid clearly lack a striker capable of cleverly linking up with midfielders and wingers to cover for the unavailability of the French international.
As previously noted, the situation on the right flank is similar. While Rodrygo might be considered to be a candidate for the position, the Brazilian’s inconsistency creates unreliability, which is too risky to bank on for a whole season. More importantly, there must be healthy competition for Rodrygo with another winger that brings out the best in each, helping Real Madrid in any case.
It would be safe to conclude that, of the three options listed, this is the transfer move that should be prioritized, with Mariano’s exit coming last. There is just a little over a week left until the transfer market closes, and Real Madrid must make the most of it.
