Manchester United and Real Madrid reached an agreement over the transfer of Casemiro a few days back. The fee could rise up to £70 million with add-ons, and while not many fans would’ve wanted the club to let the Brazilian legend leave, it is also not hard to understand why Los Blancos might have accepted that kind of an offer for a 30-year-old defensive midfielder.

Casemiro’s move to Old Trafford is only a matter of time, but it certainly appears to have dragged on for much longer than anybody could have anticipated.

Rumours suggested that the Red Devils had plans to unveil Casemiro as a Manchester United player before their game against Liverpool. But now, it looks like those plans have been scuppered due to unforeseen circumstances.

As reported by The Athletic (via Mirror), Manchester United have not yet acquired a visa for Casemiro, who will not be present for the match against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Casemiro’s move from Real Madrid to Manchester United hits hurdle

There is no doubt that Casemiro’s move to Manchester United will become official soon, but for the time being, it looks like it has been delayed a bit due to visa issues.

On the other hand, it did not feel like Real Madrid were feeling the absence of Casemiro, when they took on Celta Vigo and got a 4-1 win away from home.

Luka Modric was at his dazzling best while Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni put on very impressive performances in the middle of the park as well. Thus, there is hope that Real Madrid could be just fine this season, even without Casemiro.

It will be interesting to see if Los Blancos do decide to sign a replacement for Casemiro or not. They have been linked with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but then at the same time, Carlo Ancelotti has appeared to hint that the club could stick with the options that they already have instead of bringing in a new face this summer.
