Real Madrid’s midfield has recently been weakened with the departure of Casemiro to Manchester United in a deal that could rise upto £70 million including add-ons. It is safe to say that Los Blancos have lost one of their most reliable and experienced players as a result. It did not show in their game against Celta Vigo though.

Luka Modric put in an exceptional performance while the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni also showed their incredible talent and potential. In the long run, Real Madrid might be just fine, even without Casemiro.

At the same time though, one has to recognise that Modric is 36 years of age and Toni Kroos is also 32, so this midfield will have to undergo some transformation over the coming seasons. But it seems that Real Madrid have turned down the chance to sign a Spanish international midfielder on a free transfer next summer.

As reported by Marca, Carlos Soler’s agent offered Real Madrid the possibility of signing the player for free next season. Los Blancos declined the offer, assuring that the player is not among their objectives.

Soler currently plays for Valencia and has been one of their best players in recent times. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists in 32 La Liga appearances last season, and registered 11 goals and 8 assists in 32 appearances in the 2020/21 La Liga campaign.

Thus, someone like Soler could be a solid addition to the Real Madrid midfield next summer, especially on a free transfer. His current deal with Valencia runs out in the summer of 2023.

But it looks like Real Madrid have other plans. Interestingly, recent rumours have suggested that Jude Bellingham is their top midfield target next summer, and that is a situation that one must keep an eye out on.

It is expected to take a transfer fee north of €100 million to sign the Borussia Dortmund superstar, who is still just 19 years of age but already one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga.
