A lot has been made of Real Madrid’s midfield and its strength since the departure of Casemiro to join Manchester United this summer. While the Brazilian legend leaving is a blow to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for sure, at the same time, one has to admit that the European champions are absolutely stacked in the middle of the park at the moment.

They have two absolute legends in Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. On the other hand, youngsters like Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga must be keen to carve out their own path in Real Madrid’s history. Dani Ceballos is a decent option to have as well and can do a job.

The area where Real Madrid are actually lacking in at the moment is up front. Karim Benzema is most probably destined to win the Ballon d’Or but beyond him, there is not a lot of depth there. Thus, any kind of injury will leave Los Blancos scrambling for options. Even Vinicius Jr struggles without the Frenchman beside him.

Thus, Real Madrid would be smart to add at least another striker this summer and one name that should interest them is Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.

Real Madrid should keep an eye on the Portuguese striker

Darwin Nunez grabbed most of the headlines for Benfica last season, but Ramos could be just as good, now that he is the focal point of their attack.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ramos has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in just 5 appearances this season, having played 340 minutes of football.

Those are exceptional numbers and he would be expected to get even better, as he is just 21 years of age. And on top of everything else, rumours have suggested that Benfica are ready to let Ramos leave for a transfer fee around €30 million. That could be a bargain in the long run.
