Real Madrid: Liverpool legend makes bizarre claim about Casemiro
Casemiro leaving Real Madrid for Manchester United came as a shock to many. Los Blancos are the defending European and Spanish champions. On the other hand, the Red Devils will be playing in the Europa League this season and could struggle to even qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top four.
But then, Casemiro is 30 years of age and has achieved everything that there was to achieve at Real Madrid, multiple times over. Thus, he cannot be blamed for looking for a different challenge and get the final big move of his career.
Midfield has been considered as a weakness for Manchester United for quite some time and Paul Pogba left the club at the end of his contract this summer. Thus, signing someone like Casemiro is a huge boost for Erik ten Hag’s side and we saw a spring in their step already, as they shockingly beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford, even though the Brazilian was not on the pitch.
Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, does not seem to have been impressed with Manchester United’s £70 million move for Casemiro though and does not see him as a great player. As reported by talkSPORT, he said:
"“He was playing with great players. He’s not a great player. He has never been a great player.“I see him as a steady Eddie who will help United be more solid in midfield.“I don’t think he has got a great range of passing. I don’t think he is going help other people play.“I think he was lucky to be in that Real Madrid team. I never look forward to watching Casemiro. Benzema, definitely. The other midfield players, definitely.“I never thought, ‘I’m really excited to watch Casemiro play today’.”"

Casemiro won five Champions League titles during his time at Real Madrid and was a key part of the starting XI in four of them.
Souness will know what it takes to win Europe’s elite competition, having won it three times himself during his time at Liverpool.
Yes, Casemiro is not the type of player who will dribble past four defenders and chip the ball over the goalkeeper to score. But he is the type of player who allows his teammates around him to produce that kind of magic.
The Brazilian brings a steel to the middle of the park that very few players of his generation do and his success speaks for itself. Not only is Casemiro a great player but he is a Real Madrid legend, who is expected to be a big success for Manchester United as well.
