Real Madrid star wants to leave and join another La Liga club

In terms of signings, a lot has not been going on at Real Madrid this summer. The club have focused on quality over quantity, bringing in Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni. On the other hand, there have been quite a few exits, with the most notable being that of Gareth Bale, Isco, Marcelo and Casemiro.

There could be more players on the way out of Santiago Bernabeu before the transfer window slams shut though. Mariano Diaz could be one such player.

Mariano was brought back to Real Madrid after a promising spell at Lyon and handed the #7 jersey, vacated by Cristiano Ronaldo. It is safe to say though that it has not worked out for the forward and he is pretty much on the fringes of the squad right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist in 11 appearances last season.

Thus, most fans would not be devastated if he did leave. And as reported by AS, Mariano is open to leaving Real Madrid this summer but on one condition. He still wants to continue playing in La Liga and that is his priority.

Real Madrid forward wants to leave but remain in La Liga

Mariano might have struggled at Real Madrid but he is good enough to do a job for most clubs in La Liga.

While most people might have forgotten by now, but he was actually exceptional for Lyon and is also still 29 years of age, very much in the prime of his career.

Thus, it is not hard to see La Liga clubs being interested in Mariano’s services. His current deal with Real Madrid is believed to run out next summer though and as a result, many might decide to wait it out a year before signing him on a free transfer.

At the moment, Mariano is a Real Madrid player. There is a little over a week left in the summer transfer window. Let’s see if anything changes between now and then.
