Real Madrid have made a bright start to the season. A 2-0 UEFA Super Cup win over Eintracht Frankfurt has been followed by back-to-back wins away from home against Almeria and Celta Vigo in La Liga. Los Blancos will have to wait a bit longer to return to Santiago Bernabeu though, as their next match is against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium.

Real Madrid sit at second in the league table behind Villarreal right now, who are ahead on goal difference. Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be the favourites against Espanyol though, who have one point from their first two games.

There is mixed news for Real Madrid heading into the game in terms of availability of players. As reported by El Espanol, Rodrygo is back training with the group. But on the other hand, Toni Kroos was absent as he continues with his flu process.

Rodrygo has been missing from the squad in Real Madrid’s first two La Liga games of the season, and as a result, his return comes as a boost. Federico Valverde played on the right wing in those matches and did a wonderful job as well. On the other hand, fans will be hoping to see Kroos healthy and back in action as soon as possible.

Real Madrid will surely be looking to make an impression when they come up against Espanyol, in what is the last of their three straight away games to start off the La Liga campaign.

The Spanish champions will then finally return to Santiago Bernabeu to take on Real Betis, who have the same number of points and goal difference to Real Madrid as of now.

It will be very interesting to see how Los Blancos line up against Espanyol, as Ancelotti has been very open about his plans to rotate his squad throughout the season.
