Most of Real Madrid’s transfer business this summer has revolved around outgoings. That was not expected back when Los Blancos were being linked with an ambitious double move for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. Long-time players like Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Casemiro and Isco have all departed Santiago Bernabeu. On the other hand, the only major names to arrive have been Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.

There is still a week to go in the summer transfer window though, and it looks likely that a few more players could potentially leave before the deadline.

Marco Asensio looks like a prime candidate for a potential exit. His current deal with the club runs out next summer and he has not agreed a new deal yet. Also, the Spaniard is not a regular starter either. As tweeted by Relevo, Manchester United are determined to make a formal offer to Real Madrid of more than €30 million for him.

It is not a one-horse race though. As reported by The Sun, rumours suggest Manchester United may not be the only club in for Asensio with Liverpool previously showing interest. Newcastle United and Arsenal have also been linked.

Thus, it looks like there could be no lack of interest in Asensio’s signature this summer if he did indeed end up leaving Real Madrid.

Also, with his contract entering its final twelve months, Real Madrid must consider all serious offers for him, if they do indeed arrive.

Asensio was expected to become a Real Madrid superstar but has not even been able to establish himself as a starter. Yet, he did make a solid contribution last season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 42 appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.
