Most of Real Madrid’s summer transfer business has involved exits rather than signings and it looks like that trend will continue in the final week of the window as well. Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz are two players who might very well be on their way out of the club before the deadline hits. And one of Castilla’s brightest prospects seems to be on his way out as well.

As reported by Marca, Juanmi Latasa has made the decision to join Getafe on loan. The team from the south of Madrid will have a purchase option and Los Blancos reserve 50% of the player’s contractual rights at the end of this season.

This will come as a transfer twist for sure, as just days earlier, it had looked like Latasa was on the verge of joining another Madrid-based club in the form of Rayo Vallecano. But that seems to be off the table now.

Latasa enjoyed a very good campaign at the youth level last season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 13 goals and provided an assist in 30 appearances for Castilla. He also made his senior debut for Real Madrid as well.

While Latasa is very highly rated, it is hard to see him getting any significant amount of playing time for Real Madrid’s senior team at this point.

As a result, a move away from the club makes sense for him. At 21 years of age, he needs to be playing regular football at the senior level if he is to develop his game further.

On the other hand, Real Madrid have a lack of options up front at the moment and if Mariano does also leave, Karim Benzema will be the only recognised striker in the senior team.
