There is less than a week left in the summer transfer window but it looks like there could still be outgoings from Real Madrid. One of those who could potentially be on his way out of the club is Marco Asensio. The Spaniard is nowhere near being a starter at this point of time and on top of that, his current deal runs out next summer. He has been linked with some big names like Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks.

It remains to be seen if Asensio stays or leaves, and at the moment, he is believed to be evaluating his options.

There is not a lot of time left in the transfer window though. On the other hand, Real Madrid are already short of options on the wings, to the point where Federico Valverde has been converted to a right winger. Thus, Asensio leaving would leave the squad pretty thin.

Yet, surprisingly, Real Madrid do not seem to have any plans of bringing in a replacement, even if Asensio ends up leaving this summer. As reported by TEAMtalk, Carlo Ancelotti said in a news conference:

"“We have a squad with a lot of resources. If Marco leaves, we won’t sign anyone, because we don’t need them.”"

Real Madrid will not sign anyone even if Asensio ends up leaving

That is a bold decision to say the very least, as Real Madrid seem to be taking a big risk with their options up top.

They do not have any real back up for Karim Benzema at striker, and their options on the wings are limited at best. Yet, it does not look like Los Blancos will be signing anyone before the transfer window slams shut, whether Asensio leaves or not.

This is in direct contrast to rivals Barcelona, who have more options than they know what to do with going forward at the moment and continue to keep adding.
