Real Madrid: Eden Hazard suffers another huge blow
When Real Madrid had signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, it was considered as a brilliant move. The Belgian had been absolutely stunning in his seven years with the Blues and had arguably been the best player in the Premier League during that period of time. Thus, many viewed him as a potential Ballon d’Or winner and the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo for Los Blancos, who had left the summer before.
Hazard might have joined Real Madrid to fulfil a dream but reality has become a bit of a nightmare for him over the past three years.
Hazard has struggled with one injury after another, and when he is on the pitch, he looks nowhere near the superstar that we saw at Chelsea. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 6 goals in 68 appearances for Real Madrid.
Hazard wants to stay at Real Madrid and return to his best. His desire to help the team is clear for all to see. It just might be a bit too late though.
Hazard’s Real Madrid hopes suffer another blow
As reported by Marca, the leaders at Real Madrid hardly expect anything from Hazard at this point. They consider that the best version of the Belgian has already passed and although they value his efforts, they do not expect any change. If Marco Asensio stays, the former Chelsea superstar will be behind the Spaniard in the pecking order.
That practically means he is the last choice winger in this team. Just that says a lot about Hazard’s position at the club right now, that he cannot get in front of a player, who has failed to reach his potential, is in the final 12 months of his contract and wants to leave.
One has to admire the determination of the Belgian to produce his best for the club and make his Real Madrid journey a success, but it might be time to admit that it won’t happen.
