Real Madrid have not splashed out this summer, only bringing in Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger. Their approach has been a bit confusing to be honest, when you consider the fact that there are several areas on the pitch where Los Blancos have very few options. With just days left in the transfer window as well, it does not feel like a lot will change.
Hopefully, Real Madrid’s transfer plans will be much grander for the next summer transfer window and interestingly, it is believed that Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund will be their transfer priority then.
It is not hard to see why Bellingham might interest Real Madrid. While he is still just 19 years of age, the Englishman is already one of the best players in the Bundesliga, a key part of this Borussia Dortmund side and has already proven himself at the Champions League level as well. Unfortunately for Los Blancos, there is some bad news in the race to sign him though.
As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool have a verbal ‘agreement’ with Borussia Dortmund sensation Bellingham and he could even sign in January.
Liverpool hand Bellingham transfer blow to Real Madrid
It goes without saying that this is a blow for Real Madrid and it remains to be seen if Liverpool actually end up winning the race to sign Bellingham.
The English midfielder is expected to be in high demand, whenever it is that he ends up leaving Borussia Dortmund.
It is expected to take a transfer fee north of €100 million to sign him though. Now, let’s see how things play out.
Real Madrid already have a very strong midfield, in the form of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos and Fede Valverde. Adding someone with the quality of Bellingham would just take it to the next level.
But Liverpool’s interest means that Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Bellingham have suffered a major blow.
