Real Madrid were expected to be quite busy over the last few days of the summer transfer window in terms of outgoings. There are a number of players at the club right now who do not seem to be in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, are struggling for playing time and as a result, could do with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu.
One player that comes to mind immediately in that regard is Alvaro Odriozola. The Spaniard has failed to make his mark in Real Madrid colours and his loan spells at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina have not been anything remarkable either.
Thus, Odriozola has been rumoured with a move away from Real Madrid this summer and is yet to make a single appearance for Los Blancos this season. The idea of a return to Real Sociedad has been floated recently.
But as reported by AS, Odriozola will not be able to fulfil his wish to return home as the high price of the operation has ended up throwing Real Sociedad back.
Real Madrid player will not be completing a return to his former club this summer
It is not hard to see why Odriozola might be interested in a return to Real Sociedad. He came through the youth ranks of the club and it is there that he first made a name for himself at the senior level as well, and established himself as one of the brightest young prospects in Spain.
Now 26 years of age, he has never managed to fulfil that potential though. But on paper, he should be entering his prime as a footballer and thus, there is still time for Odriozola to turn things around.
He has been linked with potential moves to Villarreal and Nottingham Forest recently as well. Let’s see if any of those come to fruition.
