Eden Hazard’s dream move to Real Madrid has turned into a nightmare over the years. Los Blancos shattered their transfer record in order to sign the Belgian from Chelsea in the summer of 2019 and he came with huge expectations. He had been one of the best players in Premier League history during his seven seasons in England.
Unfortunately for Hazard, things have not gone quite as smoothly in La Liga. Most of that is down to his constant injury problems, which have kept him on the sidelines and prevented him from nailing down a regular spot in the starting XI.
As a result, Vinicius Jr is firmly ahead of him in the pecking order. In fact, the likes of Rodrygo and Marco Asensio, who was looking to leave this summer but ended up staying, seem to be in front of Hazard as well. Even Federico Valverde has been starting on the right wing with the Belgian on the bench this season.
Hazard has barely featured this season but there is still a long campaign ahead and Carlo Ancelotti seems sure that he will play an important part. As reported by Marca, the Real Madrid manager said:
"“He’s not touched, he’s working well. Three games aren’t enough for an evaluation. I’m sure he’s going to play an important role this season.”"
Ancelotti makes brilliant claim about Hazard despite him struggling to get into the Real Madrid team
There is very little question about Hazard’s talent or his abilities. His biggest problem during his time at Real Madrid has been staying fit.
On top of his game, he has proven that he is one of the best players in the world and one of the best dribblers of the ball of all-time.
But at 31 years of age and with his long history of injuries, one has to wonder whether that player even exists any more. We will find out as the season progresses. Let’s hope that Hazard can finally deliver in a Real Madrid jersey this time around.
