Marcelo’s legendary run at Real Madrid came to an end this summer. He had arrived at the club in early 2007 and spent more than 15 years at Santiago Bernabeu. It was great to see that the Brazilian could say goodbye by lifting the La Liga and UEFA Champions League trophies.

It would be safe to say that Marcelo will go down as one of the greatest players in the history of Real Madrid. He won numerous trophies with Los Blancos and according to stats from Transfermarkt, made 546 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals and providing 103 assists.

Of course, Marcelo had not featured as much for the first-team over the past several years now and Real Madrid have a regular starter at left-back at the moment in the form of Ferland Mendy. Thus, the Brazilian leaving is not expected to have a huge impact on the first-team, even though, he does leave with a lot of experience.

The Brazilian has found a new club as well after departing Real Madrid. As reported by ESPN, Marcelo has signed for Olympiakos after leaving the European champions in the summer.

Now 34 years of age, it is safe to say that Marcelo is nowhere near his prime at the moment and is pretty much in the twilight years of his career.

But even then, one would expect that he will be able to do a good job for Olympiacos in the Greek Super League.

Olympiacos are the most successful team in Greek football history by quite some distance and have won three league titles on the trot, and won 13 of the last 16 league campaigns.

Thus, it goes without saying that this is a great chance for Marcelo to add to his already impressive trophy cabinet.
