It is no secret that things have not gone Eden Hazard’s way since he joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from Chelsea. In the process of doing so, he became the most expensive signing in the club’s history as well but he has completely failed to justify it till now.

Now, the Hazard that we saw at Chelsea was one of the best players in the world and absolutely a Premier League legend. That player commanded that transfer fee that Real Madrid agreed to shell out to sign him.

Unfortunately, the player that we have seen in Real Madrid colours till now has been a shell of that player. And in the game against Real Betis, he was left on the bench once again, even though the club were looking for a goal past the 60 minute mark, which ultimately Rodrygo was able to get them. Last week, he did not feature, even though it took Los Blancos 88 minutes to find the lead vs Espanyol.

That just goes on to show his standing in the pecking order at the moment, that the Belgian does not feature unless Real Madrid are winning comfortably.

Carlo Ancelotti makes brutally honest admission about Hazard and his playing time at Real Madrid

Ancelotti has admitted that he does not how much playing time Hazard, and Marco Asensio, will get moving forward. As reported by Marca, the Real Madrid manager said:

"“Difficult to answer. I know I can count on them and that’s enough. I don’t know how many minutes they are going to play, I have made changes to put more energy and then Rüdiger to be stronger in the aerial ball. With 1-1 I put Kroos and Ceballos to have more quality. With 2-1 he didn’t need to bring in Hazard and Asensio.”"

Thus, it is safe to say that someone like Hazard, and Asensio, are looking like luxury options for Real Madrid at the moment rather than players that they trust to come in and change games.

That is not a good sign for Hazard at all. There is no doubt about the Belgian’s desire to finally show what he is capable of in the royal white jersey of Real Madrid. But unfortunately, that opportunity might have passed already after three disastrous individual seasons.
