Real Madrid have made the perfect start to the season till now. They have won away games against Almeria, Celta Vigo and Espanyol, and marked their return to the Santiago Bernabeu with a 2-1 win over a very strong Real Betis side. Thus, there is very little to be unhappy about if you are a fan of Los Blancos.

Of course, one could point out to the fact that the club have not strengthened enough in the summer transfer window and that could end up having an effect in the long-term, as they do not have a lot of depth in multiple positions. But for now, Real Madrid are continuing to deliver the goods time after time.

Of course, there is one aspect of their game which has not been upto the mark this season though and that is their defending, as Real Madrid have conceded in all their games this season, which has resulted in them being much closer than they would have hoped for.

And Carlo Ancelotti seems to recognise the importance of improving in this area as well. As reported by Marca, the Real Madrid manager said after the 2-1 win over Real Betis:

"“We have to take into account the goals conceded, today’s was a pretty serious mistake, they caught us inattentive on a throw-in. We have to improve these little situations, that’s true.”"

Real Madrid might be perfect at the moment but there were quite a few of those games were they could have easily dropped points.

The one against Espanyol is a prime example when Thibaut Courtois saved Real Madrid from going a goal down by pulling off a stunning save, when the scores were tied at 1-1.

Los Blancos cannot afford to have such tight games and expect to win throughout the course of the season. Especially with Barcelona looking incredibly strong and title contenders once again. Xavi’s side signed a long list of players this summer while Real Madrid only added Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger.
