One of the most confusing decisions that Real Madrid made in the recent summer transfer window was not signing a striker. That is an area of the pitch that they do not have enough depth at the moment. Karim Benzema is the undisputed starter for sure and one of the best in the world, but beyond him, the only other recognised number 9 in the squad is Mariano Diaz. It is safe to say that he is not the most reliable of options.

Of course, Carlo Ancelotti could try to go for innovative ways and play the likes of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Rodrygo in false nine roles, but it does not feel like that will work too well.

On the other hand, Benzema has not made the brightest start to the season and seems to be struggling a bit to find his rhythm at the moment. Also, at 34 years of age, one cannot expect him to play 90 minutes of football every game and perform at the top level. And if the Frenchman got injured at any point this season, it would spell disaster for Real Madrid.

At the same time though, it is not hard to understand why Real Madrid have been reluctant to go after strikers, as their record of signing number nines 9s has not been great in recent years. Mariano and Luka Jovic are prime examples. But that does not mean they are not looking for one.

Real Madrid have their eyes on ‘Next Neymar’

As reported by Marca, the search for the striker of the future is already underway. And they’re keeping an eye on Endrick and other young talent.

Endrick is just 16 years of age and has burst onto the scene recently. He is considered as the biggest talent in Brazilian football since Neymar.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 6 goals in 7 Copinha appearances for Palmeiras’ Under20 side. He has also scored 5 goals in 4 appearances for the Brazil Under17 team.

Endrick is a centre-forward, with the ability to play on the wings as well. And considering Real Madrid’s recent history of signing young Brazilian talent, like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, it should come as no surprise that they have an eye on the 16-year-old, who has been linked with several other top European clubs.
